ASTM A36 versus ASTM A572 GR50, which one better?
High strength low alloy structural steel plate, thick 8~300mm A572Gr50 high strength low alloy structural steel is widely used in engineering structures, such as the construction of steel structures, construction machinery, mining machinery, heavy duty trucks, bridges, pressure vessels, especially for good weldability and toughness of the architectural and engineering mechanical components.
A36 (Grade 50) versus A572 Gr 50 Structural engineering
The project is Design Build, and the contractor is requesting the use of ASTM A36, Grade 50 rods, which I'm assuming are more readily available (thus cheaper). In looking at the AISC Manual, the tensile strength for A36 steel varies from 58 80 ksi. Further, the yield strength is specified as 36 ksi.
I've never heard of A36 Grade 50. The "36" is the grade, so that's like saying "Grade 36 Grade 50". A lot of the A36 products may run well over 3Reference Table 2 3, 2 4, and 2 5 in AISC 13th edition before you specify a certain material. A572 Gr. 50 is a steel spec. for structural shapes,I did a little more research on this and came to the same conclusion. I have never seen a Grade 50 option for A36, so not sure where the contractorUBGrad, I did reference Table 2 5 in AISC 13th for the design. If you look at A572 Grade 50 for the application of threaded rods, it states that thOne slight detail to considerif you specify F1554 Gr 36 rods, the contractor has the OPTION of supplying Gr 50 rods. So while the contractorCorrection.. Gr 55 rods (not Gr 50 as I stated above).MotorCity, I think confusion over ASTM grade is likely on the part of the contractor.
I found that A36 is acceptable, so I will probably stick wiF1554 can be provided threaded or smooth. I believe that the difference in threading between A36 and F1554 is that one can be fully threaded and onThe threading is being provided as an extra measure of rigidity and to match tested/posted bond strength values (in this case, from Hilti). They ha
ASTM A36 versus ASTM A572 GR50
May 27, 2009 · The yield and tensile properties for A36 are 36 ksi and 58 80 ksi. The yield and tensile properties for A572 grade 50 are 50 ksi and 65 ksi. so the mechanical properties for A572 grade 50 meets and/or exceeds that of A36.

ASTM AH36 VS A36, difference between A36 and AH36 steel
Sometimes, ASTM AH36 shipbuilding steel is also short to A36 shipbuilding steel. In this condition, ASTM AH36 steel and A36 steel is totally the same. However, at most times, ASTM A36 steel means another steel type, it is A36 mild steel. A36 mild steel is for general construction, seldom used for ship building.

Jun 02, 2010 · REASTM A36 vs ASTM A529 Grade 50. Possibly the reason for rejection is the potential difference in ductility of the two materials. The specification is for a mild steel with good ductility. The supplied steel has higher strength but lower extensibility (ductility) and thus might be

Mar 09, 2019 · (And I am not talking about hard spots in particular pieces of steel bar.) However, the A36 does not guarantee the greater strength. A572 Grade 50 (and now A992) are very popular specifications for somewhat stronger material (minimum 50KSI yield strength instead of 36KSI). Many mills can dual certify their product for both A36 and A572 Grade 50.

Nov 04, 2009 · Right before I checked back here, I spoke with a distributor in Texas that gets steel from Nucor and six others. He said that most angles are "dual grade" A36/A529 Gr. 50 and that there is no difference in price, and that's also what I see here. Also, he said that eventually A529 Gr. 50 will be the standard grade for angles.
What Is the Difference Between SA36 and A36 Metals
Apr 25, 2017 · There are times when steel named A36 and SA36 are the same, especially if they are used in boiler and pressure vessels, but this is not always the case. An A36 steel can be different than SA36 in pressure areas, but all SA36 steel includes A36 designation, because the SA36 standards are based on ASTM standards.

Differences Between ASTM A529 & A572 Hunker
The American Society for Testing and Materials standardizes, among other things, the composition and mechanical properties of steel. While many forms of steel possess similar compositions, such as A529 and A572, relatively small differences in the quantities of particular elements are enough to make the steels have different mechanical properties, and therefore, different applications.
